There are many variables to consider, the 1.9 Will yield lower consumption and stock will be a little more nippy due to size. The 2.0 TDI golf is lovely and spacious with a few more luxuries than the Polo. The polo is an 8 valve motor, the 2.0 TDI is a 16 valve, and diesels are already expensive to fix as is.
I agree with most of what has been written, with a lot of people comparing this 2.0 with engines 30g ago, of course it is better than 1.6td from golf 2 today all engines exceed more than 300 tkm, but from experience with vw 2.5 and 2.0 2009 and 2013 can say that these engines are far worse in durability than the average, while the rest of the
Re: 1.9tdi vs 2.0tdi (GoFaster) you see in norway we need to pay alot more in taxes when the hp is higher(the 2.0 costs 35000kr more=5000$) So if the engine was identical besides the 100cc he would just buy the 1.9 and chip it, but if the head and bottom end is different he might reconsider.
We Tune More Than 572 Volkswagen Variants. Volkswagen is regarded as one of the leading manufacturers of TDI engines. Their first Volkswagen Group TDI engine was an inline five cylinder engine introduced in the 1989 with the Audi 100. Since then, their name and vehicles have become synonymous with the phrase TDI (Turbo Diesel Injection) and
I find the 2.0 16v TDi drives more like a petrol than the 1.9 i.e. its more free revving and doesn't have the low down slug of torque the 1.9 has but it pulls higher into the rev range. I can manage 58.7mpg measured by filling tank on a 400 mile run to Scotland and back but that is cruising keeping revs around 2,000 and driving like a granny.
bALng2. Is 2.0 TDI better than 1.9 TDI? The 1.9 is slightly more economical, the 2.0 is quicker revving, smoother, faster, quieter. The 1.9 only has a 5 speed box though. The 2.0 doesn’t pull quite as well from low revs (the 1.9 is like a tank) but is less peaky. Is the Audi 2.0 TDI reliable?
I am less than convinced of the long term durability of a fuel pump lubricated in fuel (the PD pumps are oil lubricated) which develops pressures approaching 2 kBar. I went from a 2.0 TDI PD 140 to the CR TDI 143, as you say there is less 'percieved' shove but this is just because the engine is much more flexible - amazingly so.
The Fabia vRS is a 1.4 TSi engine and doesn't need super unleaded. The octavia vRS from 2009 is a 2.0 TSi and doesn't need super unleaded. The 2006 octavia vRS (which the OP is looking at) used a 2.0 TFSi engine which can run on 95 Ron when necessaey but should always run on super where available.
The 2.0 TDI engine was a replacement for the popular and acclaimed 1.9 TDI engine. And although much more contemporary than its predecessor, the general opinion is that it is much less durable. Material savings and technical errors – are the main reasons for most of the problems faced by 2.0 TDI engines.
The 2.0T TSI was a fairly reliable engine, but it does have a list of common problems. This article will outline the common VW engine problems and how to detect them. This engine uses direct injection to spray the fuel into the engine's cylinders. The fuel injectors the piece that sprays the fuel.
